This area of Spain is named after its magnificent white coasts; the Costa Blanca's highlight is probably the city of Valencia. When looking for Valencia luxury hotels there is plenty to choose from making it an ideal location for a Spanish vacation.
Most visitors come to the city for a relaxing beach vacation and they wouldn't be disappointed with the long stretches of white sand that are edged with turquoise waters. As you would expect in a location like this there are plenty of water sports by the beach with banana rides, jet skis and snorkeling being extremely popular. However there are quieter stretches of beach that are perfect for those with small children as the sands gently shelve into the sea and the currents during the summer months are fairly gentle. The beaches are lined with plenty of places to eat as well as little souvenir shops selling the usual raft of inflatable toys and souvenirs. There are many places on the beach where it is possible to hire sun beds and umbrellas as well as those open spaces that are better suited to building sandcastles. Valencia is a family resort but caters just as well for couples looking for a romantic getaway in the more secluded coves or for groups of friends looking for a place with plenty of relaxation as well as plenty of things to see.
Moving a little way away from the beaches the real Valencia opens up and visitors are treated to a traditional slice of Spanish life. Restaurants serve traditional Valencian food with Paella being the most popular. Paella is a slow cooked rice dish that has a variety of meat or shellfish added but there are also the traditional Spanish omelets and bimuelos, which are a Spanish fritter. The majority of the Spanish countryside is given over to agriculture and this means that Spanish cuisine enjoys an abundance of fresh produce and being so close to the coast has plenty of seafoods at hand.
Booking your vacation to coincide with one of the festivals held in Valencia is a perfect way to ensure an unforgettable trip. Perhaps the most unique festival is that of la Tomatina, which is essentially a huge tomato fight in the streets! During the 1950's the council tried to ban the festival but in recent years it has enjoyed great popularity. Participants dream up inventive ways to fire tomatoes at the opposition with a variety of cannons, guns and hoses with each year seemingly getting more inventive. There are plenty of other shows during La Tomatina including the climbing of a 40-foot "ham" pole and many other silly displays but there is always plenty of fun and laughter, which has made it one of Spain's most popular attractions. In March the more sedate festival of Fallas is held which is a celebration of all that is Spanish with plenty of street vendors selling paellas and other food and lots of market stalls owned by local artisans displaying lots of unique jewelry, baskets and other handcrafted items. Spain is a predominantly Catholic country and as such each of the holy occasions enjoys good attendance with lots of lively and colorful processions that travel the streets towards the churches and cathedrals. No matter which festival or procession you attend there is sure to be lots of noise, colors and interest.
When looking for Valencia luxury hotels the city is well placed for people looking for either a relaxing beach retreat or a city based tour of the magnificent architecture and religious sites. Valencia luxury hotels are often based on the beach and enjoy their own private beachfront affording guests a little more seclusion than on the main beaches. They also have beautiful swimming pools with poolside bars and even waiter service at the poolside in some locations. As you would expect rooms are air-conditioned and have televisions as well as often offering room service. Hotel facilities are of an extremely high standard and many have sauna or spa facilities as well as modern gyms offering plenty of fitness equipment. On-site restaurants or bars are common and many of the restaurants have won local awards for the quality of their cuisine. All in all, Valencia luxury hotels have everything needed for a perfect vacation.
